Born and raised in Victoria, BC, I am a poet, non-fiction writer, editor of The Blind Canadian magazine, a children’s book author, and a member of the Writer’s Union of Canada.
After retiring from a career as a hospital unit clerk, I returned to UVic where I received my BA in writing (non-fiction and poetry) in 2019 as a blind, mature student.
My biggest thrill was having my first book published, I Am Blind (Beech Street Books, 2024), a children’s grade 3 – 6 non-fiction book – and then finding it with my friend on the shelf at Victoria’s iconic Munro’s Books! And listed in BC BookWorld and BC BookLook!
I have been writing poetry since 2006, so next on my wish list is finding a publisher for my two poetry collections.
My writing has appeared in UVic’s The Warren and This Side of West, and in the Times Colonist, The Blind Canadian (CFB) and the Braille Monitor (NFB).
I live in Victoria, B.C., Canada with my husband and our yellow lab. I am a 25-year member of the Canadian Federation of the Blind (CFB) and have been editor of its magazine, The Blind Canadian, for over a decade. I enjoy music, writing, watching all sorts of wonders on YouTube, and eating out with friends. Like many people, I am a huge lover of animals.
